My boyfriend Jeff and I religiously have an apple pie in the oven on Sunday evenings--- somehow it became a ritual while watching our beloved Game of Thrones. It was just something about a thrilling show, warm pie, and cozying up on the couch that made it feel like a good wrap up to the weekend.
As much as I like pie, I have made very few in my life. I have made an occasional cherry pie, courtesy of my mother's recipes. If I recall correctly, I have attempted to replicate my grandmother's sweet potato pie (It came out great, but it just was not Grandma's pie!). And between all of those experiences, never have I actually made a pie fully from scratch. I'm talking kneading, and rolling dough, adding in fruit, making a crust, etc.
While making my "30 things to do before I turn 30" list, I decided it was high time I get in there and make my first [truly] homemade pie. And with the weather transitioning into autumn, I think it is a good time to bake a lovely pie. It will be Apple of course :) Stay tuned- hopefully it will turn out as great as this one I found online! LOL.
Have you ever made anything from scratch? Or have you always wanted to? Tell me about it in the comments!
